The Culture Club is pleased to announce another schedule addition. Local Artist Sarah Smith will be showcasing her paintings alongside Aimi Bouillon on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:50 in room 316.


The Culture Club is pleased to announce Christof Scheele as an addition to the poetry panel that will be presenting on Saturday at 3:30. In addition to Scott Daniels, Scheele will now be presenting some of his work and answering questions.

Christof Scheele has published poems in Arts & Letters, Prairie Schooner, jublilat, Hayden’s Ferry Review, and Caketrain, among others. In 2003 he received an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship in poetry. A chapbook, Eitherland, appeared in 2006 from Three Sheets Press. He lives in the open swampland of Northwest Ohio.

Dear Members, Alumni, and Community,

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! We hope it has begun
successfully and peacefully while you still enjoy the last few days of

I would like to introduce ourselves as the 2012-2013 Executive Board
for The Culture Club: Cultural Studies Scholars’ Association. Lisa
Woronzoff (President), Suzanne Berg (Vice-President), Diane DePasquale
(Treasurer), Chris Wagenheim (Secretary), Debbie Ribera
(Executive-At-Large), and Johni Amos (Faculty, Student and Staff

We look forward to working with you and creating a vibrant and
stimulating intellectual and social networking community.

Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 12th at 12:30
pm in room 309 in the Union. Light snacks will be provided. Everyone
is welcome and we encourage all to attend. We plan to discuss upcoming
events such as the Battleground States Conference and Trivia Nights
co-sponsored by the PCSA. We are excited to share the details and gain
your input.

Our first event of the semester is our annual Book Sale, with all
proceeds going toward funding this year’s conference. The Book Sale is
scheduled for Tuesday September 18th from 10-4:00 in the Student
Union. We are still collecting books and are seeking volunteers to
work the table, please contact us if you want to help out. Our first
Trivia Night of the year will be held on September 28th at Grumpy
Dave’s Pub above Easy Street Cafe on the corner of Wooster and Main in
downtown Bowling Green. The etrant fee - per team is $10.00 - and the
evening’s winner will split the proceeds with Culture Club.

The Battleground States Conference is scheduled for February
22nd-24th.  The title for  this year’s conference is Crossing
Boundaries, Revealing Connections: Experiments in Interdisciplinary
Studies and we are inviting participants to facilitate creative,
experimental, and exploratory standpoints that expand their own area
of knowledge from unique and multifarious perspectives. We really want
to make a safe and encouraging environment to experiment within and
outside of your disciplines. We are attaching the CFP in this email.

Finally, we have created new social media outlets to help communicate
Culture Club’s mission. We have abandoned the website (for now) so

We hope these tools help to make Culture Club’s membership grow and
really reflect the School of Cultural and Critical Studies’ and the
University’s  communities,

The Culture Club is pleased to announce that our monthly Trivia Night is going to be cosponsored this year with our friends at the Pop Culture Scholars Association! Trivia Night will be held at Grumpy Dave’s Pub in downtown Bowling Green on the last Friday of every month throughout the school year. The first Trivia Night will be September 28th. A team entrance fee of $10 will be taken at the door and the winner of Trivia Night will take half of the evening’s proceeds - the other half will go toward funding the 2013 Battleground States Conference. Teams may not exceed more than five people. We look forward to seeing all of you there.


The Culture Club is hosting a book sale in the BGSU Union on September 18th. All proceeds will go towards funding the 2013 Battleground States Conference.
